Hi There, We are the Mathis Family!

We live on our small-scale, regenerative farm in Fischer, TX on the beautiful, Blanco River. We grow a wide variety of foods for our family, friends, and community.

Jason and Casey Mathis met in 2013 in San Marcos, TX where we began our organic gardening journey. Ever since then, we’ve always maintained gardens and raised animals. After living in the Austin area for over 15 years and then having our first child, we felt the urge to relocate somewhere quieter and a little further out of town. We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon our property in Fischer. When we first stepped foot on this piece of land, you could feel how fertile the soil was and we knew we had stumbled upon something truly special. Fortunately for us, a fair amount of the farm’s infrastructure was already in place. We spent the first year planting fruit trees, sowing cover crops, and really trying to continue to build upon our soil health. After planting over 100 fruit trees, we reintroduced laying hens. As time went on, our fruit and vegetable plot continued to expand.

It’s important to us that our children understand where their food comes from, and we want to carry that philosophy into our community.

Jason has a background in Metal Sculpture Art/Welding and Construction. Casey has a background in Horticulture and Landscape Design. Together, we own Mathis Designs, a Design + Build firm that serves the Greater Austin area from concept to completion. When we aren’t working or farming, you can find us swimming in the river, riding our motorcycles around the Hill Country, or traveling.

We currently raise laying hens in our mobile chicken tractors and grow fruits and vegetables in our regenerative, no-till garden. We planted 150 fruit trees in our 10 acre orchard, where we rotate our birds, sheep, and pigs. Using these rotational grazing practices allows us to build soil health while giving our animals an amazing quality of life.
